We're thrilled to announce that Justine, Mildmay’s steadfast Human Resources Manager, who has been at Mildmay for 18 years, is the well-deserved winner of the April/May MVP Award!
"Always kind, helpful and supportive with a listening ear for all staff. Goes the extra mile at all times.”
Justine was nominated and voted for by her colleagues for her dedicated and compassionate approach and exceptional commitment to Mildmay. Her impact on the well-being and morale of the Mildmay team was highlighted, noting how she frequently goes above and beyond to support staff.
As our Human Resources Manager, Justine plays an indispensable role at the heart of our internal operations. Her work ensures that Mildmay is a nurturing, fair, and supportive environment for every member of our diverse team. This dedicated work encompasses a huge range of essential services, including:
Staff Support & Well-being: Providing a listening ear, offering guidance, and championing employee welfare.
Staff Management: Overseeing recruitment, retention, and professional development to ensure we have the best team.
Policy & Compliance: Ensuring fair practices and adherence to regulations, creating a stable work environment.
Conflict Resolution: Handling sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism.
Fostering a Positive Culture: Contributing significantly to Mildmay's reputation as a compassionate and supportive workplace.
Justine embodies the spirit of care and dedication that makes Mildmay so special. Her role is diverse and deeply personal, tackling everything from complex staff matters to providing individual support with a positive attitude and a human approach.
We’d also like to extend our congratulations to all the nominees who were recognised by their peers for their fantastic contributions to patient care and the Mildmay community.
Mildmay’s Monthly MVP Awards
The MVP Awards at Mildmay Hospital were created by one of our former physiotherapists, Josh Pedro. Recognising the need for an additional layer of appreciation beyond the annual staff awards presented by our Trustees, Josh wanted to celebrate our resilient and hardworking staff in a fun and engaging way. Though Josh has since moved on to new endeavours, his colleague Asterios has valiantly taken up the mantle of organising the awards.
Aim
The MVP Award is designed to highlight the remarkable contributions that our staff make daily, often unnoticed. By shining a light on these moments, we bring regular goodwill and recognition into the workplace, ensuring that our team receives the appreciation they truly deserve.
Description
The Mildmay MVP Award is a bi-monthly, staff-led initiative where all employees—across clinical, non-clinical, and support roles—can nominate and vote for their peers. From life-saving interventions to small gestures that brighten someone’s day, every contribution is valued. There’s no hierarchy, and every team member is eligible.
In response to feedback, we’ve shifted to bi-monthly awards, making each one a bit rarer and therefore even more special. After nominations are collected, staff vote in an open online poll, with all nominees publicly recognised.
Prize
Winners receive a gift voucher for a store of their choosing, a token of appreciation for their dedication.
What is an MVP?
In sports and social media, MVP stands for “Most Valuable Player”—someone whose contributions stand out above the rest. At Mildmay, it represents our most outstanding team member, chosen not by management but by their peers, recognising their invaluable contributions to the team.
