We have formally declared 'victory' for our campaign to save Mildmay

In late 2019, our historic Mildmay Hospital was facing closure. We fought hard to stay open, and the public got behind our #SaveMildmay campaign in huge numbers to help us lobby Parliament and the Secretary of State for Health.

Now, in May 2023, we have formally closed our campaign and can declare victory!

Mildmay Mission Hospital is no longer in danger of imminent closure, and we are delighted to say that our Save Mildmay Campaign has been an overwhelming success! We can never know what is around the corner (as we have all learned over the past three years), but we are still here, and we are making plans to develop our services and help even more people in the coming months and years.

So today, we formally close off our petition of over 78,500 signatures on Change.org and end our campaign. To do so, here's a message to you…

Stepping up for homelessness

You may have noticed in the Events section on the front page of the website, or on our social media, that, for the first time, Mildmay is participating in a sponsored event, The London Walk, to raise funds for our work with people who are homeless.

The London Walk is a sponsored night walk through London, starting and finishing at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church with a variety of distances available for people; 10k, half marathon and marathon length routes.

You can find out all you need to know here: https://www.mildmay.org/event-details/the-london-walk-2023

Why not join us for a stroll through London and help us secure our vital services at the same time?

Mildmay is highly commended in the Homeless Link Awards 2022

Mildmay Mission Hospital was shortlisted in June in the People First category of the Homeless Link Excellence Awards– which celebrates high-quality projects and services that ensure the individuals they are supporting are at the centre of what they do. Mildmay is proud to say that we have always placed individuals at the heart of all our planning, services and activities.

Before we post the news in our blog, we are announcing here that, although we didn't win, awards, we are proud to be one of two runners-up and were highly commended.

This is the first year we have entered the awards, having started our homeless services in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. This service is now well established so we are delighted to receive this recognition. We shall proudly be displaying our certificate in the hospital.
