Mildmay's Winter Fundraising Appeal
2025/26

Care Can't Wait.

This winter, the need for safe, specialist care is more critical than ever.

Support Mildmay
At Mildmay, we provide a vital lifeline to people living with complex and compounding illnesses - including HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders, mental health challenges, and homelessness. We are often the only place they can turn.

Around 90% of our running costs are covered by NHS contracts - but every year, we must raise the final 10% ourselves. That gap keeps our most essential services open. Your donation today directly protects the care and dignity of the people who rely on Mildmay most.

We need you to help us raise £30,000 to secure our most essential services.

Your gift will be split between two core areas, ensuring our patients receive holistic, constant care.

(Deadline: 1st April 2026)

1. Hospital Chaplaincy

Target: £10,000

Hospital chaplaincy is the quiet constant - a source of comfort and spiritual support for people of all faiths and none. It is present at the bedside in moments of fear, grief, and crisis.

The £10,000 we raise will directly fund our chaplain’s salary and essential services for the year ahead, including:

  • Patient visits and counselling

  • Memorials and bereavement support

  • Helping patients and families process trauma and change

Help us ensure that every patient feels seen, heard, and cared for, especially during the difficult winter months.

2. Patient Support & Core Costs

Target: £20,000

This funding is the bedrock of our high-quality specialist care. It keeps our hospital running safely and ensures stability for our most vulnerable patients.

Your £20,000 will cover the everyday essentials that make rehabilitation and complex care possible:

  • Rehabilitation equipment and supplies

  • Emergency transport and outreach for our homeless patients

  • Nutritious food for individuals recovering from illness and post-detox stabilisation

  • Essential personal items that restore comfort and stability to our patients

  • Training for our skilled clinical teams

This fund ensures that when a patient has nowhere else to turn, Mildmay’s doors remain safely open.

3. The "Stretch" Goal: Education Exchange Programme

Our first goal is to raise £30,000 to safeguard Mildmay’s essential services. If we can exceed that, additional funds will support our Education Exchange Programme, strengthening care for vulnerable communities globally.

We aim to raise £60,000 to fund forty placements for UK clinicians to serve at Mildmay Uganda Hospital. This is a true exchange:

  • It strengthens care in resource-limited settings in Uganda.

  • It builds critical skills (resilience, adaptability, leadership) that clinicians bring home to the NHS.

Reaching this goal helps us improve care both here in the UK and internationally.

"Your support today helps us give hope, healing, and dignity to those who need it most."

We are so grateful for the compassion of our donors

Your generosity ensures that people who’ve experienced homelessness, trauma, or life-changing illness receive the time, space, and expert support they need to rebuild stability and hope.

Running a modern hospital is expensive - about £12,000 per day! Roughly ninety per cent of the funding we need to run our UK hospital comes from our NHS contracts, but the remainder of our running costs and any additional costs of maintaining staff, services and facilities are entirely supported by charitable contributions.
