A land of rugged mountainsA land of finest slateThe sound of rushing riversGives us cause to celebrate.

A land of ancient forestsGreen valleys, grazing sheepGives the people of St DavidA land they wish to keep.

Follow the red dragon flagIn parades led by Welsh bandsRaise voices in the choirsTo salute this lovely land

For here in Wales, or far awayThe Welsh remember stillAnd on St David’s day with prideWear leek or daffodil

Saint David (Welsh: Dewi Sant; Latin: Davidus; c. 500 – c. 589) was a Welsh bishop of Mynyw (now St Davids) during the 6th century. He is the patron saint of Wales.
