The Very Revd John Richardson

Chair of the Board of Trustees.

John served as vicar of Maidstone until his retirement in 2025. He joined the Board of Mildmay in 2004 and became chairman in 2007 after several visits to HIV and AIDS projects in Uganda, London and across the Pennines, where he worked with doctors and other health professionals in hospices, hospitals and surgeries.

During his time as Chair of Mildmay, John has led the charity through periods of profound challenge and change. He guided the Board through the complex process of merging Mildmay International with Mildmay’s hospital charity in the East End, helping to create a single, stronger organisation with a clearer sense of purpose. Today, he continues to support Mildmay as we look beyond 40 years of service, helping us to navigate new pressures on our hospital and to shape an ambitious future for our emerging international programmes.
