Dr Pauline Hutchinson MBE

Dr Pauline Hutchinson MBE

Pauline is a retired GP. Her husband of 50 years is a retired consultant surgeon and they have 4 children and 10 grandchildren.

20 years ago Pauline visited Uganda, when God spoke to her about developing a children’s medical facility in rural Kamutuuza, in the Masaka District of Uganda. The Wellspring Children’s Medical Centre was established and treats 40,000 children a year, financed by the UK charity Medcare, of which Pauline was the founder. Medcare has also built and operates a home for 42 disabled children who receive physiotherapy and clinical support from the Wellspring Medical Centre team.

Pauline undertakes clinical and administrative work at Wellspring 2-3 times a year, is a Medcare Trustee and in the UK works full-time in administration and fundraising for the charity. Her dedication to the work with sick and disabled Ugandan children was recognised in 2019 with an MBE.

Pauline is passionate about providing Ugandan children accessible and affordable health care, social assistance, hope for the future and security in their own identity. Her Christian faith has given her the desire to reach out to needy children and share the love of Jesus with them, a love which can save and transform lives.
