Carol has dedicated almost four decades of her life to nursing. She retired as the chief executive of the Ellenor Lions Hospice in 2014 after 26 years, a role she loved.

Carol became the senior nurse specialist at what was then the Ellenor Foundation in 1988, eventually moving to nursing director and finally CEO. At her time at the hospice, she introduced respite care in the area, and established the charity’s specialist home service children’s hospice, Chyps. Carol also assisted with the merger of the Ellenor Foundation with the Lions Hospice in 2007, and helped Graham Perolls set up Romanian hospice Casa Sperantei in 1993.
