Counselling
Children suffer a wide range of complex and demanding physical, mental and emotional issues relating to their HIV status. They often experience stigma and discrimination, are ostracised by their community - sometimes even by their own families.
We try to meet their material needs but it is also essential to address their emotional needs. A pastoral care and counselling team provide psychosocial support to the children and their carers. This helps our clients cope with the challenges of living with HIV. The issues that most commonly arise include parent to child disclosure, spouse disclosure, bereavement, readiness for antiretroviral therapy and crisis counselling.
